About Mills & Grinders

Welcome to the home of the Dailey Grind
Handturned Grinders and Salt & Pepper Mills
Mills and Grinders have made a huge comeback in recent years. If you’re reading this, there’s already a great chance that you agree with the following statement - There’s nothing better than using fresh ground pepper in your cooking. And it’s proven that the minerals in sea salt make it better for you than iodized salt.
The most important thing to me when I design and make a mill is that it not only feels good in your hand but that it also looks good on your table or counter. Our mills come in a variety of sizes from 6” all the way up to a 24” tall giant.
I hope that you’ll find a mill or grinder here that’s to your liking, but if you don’t please contact me and we can talk about a custom-made piece just for you. I’ll ask you a lot of questions because I want to make sure that I have a clear picture of what you would like.
I’m very particular about all of the components that go into any our products and the crushing mechanisms are no exception. We offer two different styles of mechanisms. One of the best is made right here in the United States and comes from Chef Specialties. It’s a stainless steel mechanism for pepper with a separate salt mechanism made from polycarbonate. The other style mechanism we offer is a crushgrind mechanism made in Denmark - and this is the one I feel is the best available in the world today. You’ll know which mechanism is used in any given piece by it’s name. A piece with the American mechanism will be called a mill; and those with the Danish mechanism will be called a grinder.
